Before you begin create stock locations and assigning them to products, you will need to ensure that any users that require access to the features have the correct user permissions set. For more information on user permissions in StoreFeeder, please see the Setting User Permissions Knowledgebase.
There are two ways to create stock locations in StoreFeeder, either individually or in bulk via a spreadsheet file import.
Creating Stock Locations Individually
Step 1.
Click on the 'Warehouse' tab in the menu bar then 'Stock Locations' and 'Stock Location Overview'.
You will see the 'Stock Location Overview' page. Ensure you are on the 'Stock Location Overview' tab and click the green 'New Location' button.
Step 2.
You will see the 'Create Stock Location' window. You will need to enter your stock location information.
Once you have entered your stock location information, click the 'Save' button.
A 'Bulk Location' is a location where stock can be held before being moved to a pickbin.
Warehouse - The warehouse your stock location is located in.
Warehouse Zone - The specific area of the warehouse that the stock location is in. A stock location can be created without a 'Warehouse Zone'.
Stock Location Reference (Mandatory Field) - The unique location reference ID.
Stock Location Type - There are two types of stock locations, 'Pickbins' and 'Bulk Locations'.
Location Order - Location order is used to determine the order that pick bins will be used when creating a pickwave. The lowest location order will be chosen first.
Keep Product - With keep product turned on, when the product reaches 0 inventory within a stock location it will stay associated to the Stock Location. If it is turned off then the product will be disassociated from the stock location and the stock location will return to the pool of empty locations. If you have floating pick bins, we recommend setting 'Keep Product' to Off.
You will now see your Stock Location has been created.
Creating Stock Locations via File Import
You can also create your Stock Locations in bulk.
On the 'Stock Locations Overview' page, click the 'Import Stock Locations' tab. You will see the 'Import Create/Update Stock Locations' section.
Click the 'Select File' button and find the file you wish to import on your computer (.csv, .xlsx and .xls files types are supported). If the file has accepted, you will see the file name in a green confirmation box.
You now need to select the 'Import Type'. As we are creating Stock Locations, select 'Create' from the drop down box.
If you want to update existing stock locations, select 'Update' from the 'Import Type' menu.
You now have the option to set if the file import will 'Continue On Error'. If set to 'On', all successfully validated rows will be imported regardless of failed rows. For example, on a spreadsheet with 10 rows where 1 row is faced with an error, StoreFeeder will still import the remaining 9 successful rows.
Finally, map up the columns from your spreadsheet to the fields in StoreFeeder. Once you have done this, click the 'Confirm Import' button.
All of your successfully created stock locations will now appear in the stock location overview grid.
Assigning Stock Locations to Products
Once you have created stock locations, you now need to assign them to products. Both Bulk Locations and Pickbins can be added to a product.
To add the stock location, find your product in StoreFeeder on the 'Manage Product' page and click 'Edit' next to the products SKU.
Click on the 'Additional Information' tab to see the 'Current Stock Locations' section.
To add a new location, click 'Add to Stock Location'.
You will see the 'Add To Stock Location' window. Here you can select the pickbin or bulk location you want to assign to the product. Any 'Empty Pickbins' or 'Empty Bulk Locations' will be shown at the top of the list. Select the location you want to add.
Multiple products can be assigned to one stock location.
Click the 'Add To Stock Location' button to add the location to the product.
The assigned stock location and stock information will now appear in the 'Current Stock Location' for the product.
