This guide explains how to start using Evri's new XL Parcel and XXL Parcel services through your Whistl integration, and what to check before Evri's Light & Large changes take effect on 27 September 2026.
What is changing
Evri are splitting their Light & Large service into separate size bands. Parcels that are too big or too heavy for the Large band must go on one of four new services:
- XL Parcel NPOD
- XL Parcel POD
- XXL Parcel NPOD
- XXL Parcel POD
Whistl decide which services each parcel qualifies for, using the weight and dimensions StoreFeeder sends with the order.
Step 1: Download your Whistl services again
- Go to Settings > Integrations and open your Whistl courier integration.
- Click Download Account Services.
- Wait for the message "Account specific services downloaded successfully."
The four new XL and XXL services are now available to choose on your Whistl shipping methods. Downloading services again never removes a service that one of your shipping methods is already using.
Step 2: Add the new services to your shipping methods
Go to Settings > Shipping Configuration > Shipping Methods. For each new service you want to use, either create a new Whistl shipping method or edit an existing one, then choose the service from the Service Code dropdown and click Save.
Step 3: Update your shipping rules
Go to Settings > Shipping Configuration > Shipping Rules. Review any rule that currently sends orders to your Light & Large shipping method based on weight or size, and point the larger or heavier orders at your new XL or XXL shipping methods instead.
Use Settings > Shipping Configuration > Shipping Rules Tester to check that a sample order now picks the shipping method you expect.
Step 4: Check your packaging dimensions and product weights
Whistl use the parcel's weight and dimensions to decide between Large, XL and XXL, so these need to be accurate.
- Dimensions come from the packaging size on the order. Go to Settings > Shipping Configuration > Packaging Sizes and check that the length, width and height of every packaging size you use are filled in and correct.
- Weight comes from the order weight, which is built from your product weights. If an order has no weight, StoreFeeder sends 1kg, which may put a heavy parcel in the wrong band.
Testing your labels
You can check the new services work before 27 September in one of two ways:
- Despatch and cancel: despatch a real order on the new shipping method, check the label, then open the order and click Delete Consignment so the parcel is cancelled with Whistl and nothing is shipped.
- Test mode: ask our support team to switch your Whistl integration to test mode. Labels are then created against Whistl's test environment. Labels created in test mode can't be used to ship, so ask us to switch it back when you've finished.
Your existing Light & Large service
Your current shipping methods keep working with no changes. If Evri rename the service to "Large", it will still show under its old Light & Large name in StoreFeeder. This is cosmetic only: parcels that fit the Large band despatch exactly as before.
Troubleshooting
"Service Code - <service name> is not available for this order."
Whistl have rejected the service on the order's shipping method for this parcel's weight or size. It's usually shown with "Please use one of the following valid serivces; …" and then the services Whistl will accept for this parcel. Move the order to a shipping method that uses one of those services, most often XL or XXL, and despatch again. If this happens often, update the shipping rule that picked the method (Step 3).
The XL and XXL services aren't in the Service Code dropdown
Download your services again (Step 1). If they're still missing, contact Whistl to confirm the new Evri services have been enabled on your Whistl account. StoreFeeder can only show the services Whistl return.
"Account specific services failed to download"
StoreFeeder couldn't read your service list from Whistl. Check that the API Username, API Password and Account ID on the integration are correct and that you clicked Save before downloading.
An order goes on XL or XXL when it should fit Large
Check the packaging size on the order and the product weights (Step 4). An oversized packaging size or a wrong product weight will push the parcel into a bigger band.
