In this knowledgebase we will introduce the new Insights Engine. Here you will be able to extract data from StoreFeeder using predefined reports that we have put together. Unlike our previous reports that required code changes and needed a release. Our new engine is database driven meaning that if there are any reports we are missing or of something isn't quite right, we can make changes a lot more quickly than ever before.
With these reports we are focused on giving you the raw data you need which you can manipulate in Excel to get it into the format you want. In the old system we made formatting choices that weren't the right fit for everyone so now you are free to format it however you need to. In addition to this we are also introducing visualisations. Some people can see things better in graph form so we have added a "Visualise" button that will take you in to a very powerful graphing environment. We will go over that in more detail in this kb.
To find it simply select "Insights" on the lefthand menu in the V3 interface.
Reports list
The first section of note is the Reports list, here you will see all of the available reports broken down into sections. Because this is database driven this section will be added to as we roll out new reports.
Report Section
The next section is the actual report section. Its comprised of 2 parts:
Filter & Sort
Here you will see all the filters and sorts that apply to the report you have chosen. These will change per report.
Document Preview
Here you will see a preview of the first 10 rows of the report based on the filters you have selected. Again the columns you see will change based on the report you have chosen.
Date Picker
Our new interface brings with it a new date picker which brings some improvements and handy premade filters. You can still scroll through months and years along the top and manually pick start and stop dates if you prefer. You just need to click on the calendar icon to pop up the date selector.
In this example however we will be using one of the pre-made date filters available. Just click on the lightning bolt to pop up the filter picker as below:
We are going to choose "Year to date" in this example. You will then be returned to the date picker with your date range applied. You can see the range in the section highlighted below.
Generating the report
Assuming you are happy with your date choices all you need to do is click . This will fill in the data in the preview section and give you an indicator of how many total rows (shown in the Download Report button).
Again, assuming you are happy with what you see, click button to download the data as an excel spreadsheet. You are then free to format it as you need.
As discussed earlier on you also have the option to see your data in graph form rather than downloading it. Just click the button to be taken to the graphing page. For more tips on how to use this please see the following knowledgebase.
