Creating a variation product in StoreFeeder is a simple process. First, log into your StoreFeeder account and click on 'Manage Products' as shown in the image below.
You will now be on the 'Manage Products' page, which shows you any products you already have created inside StoreFeeder. To begin the creation of a variant product, click on the green 'New Product' button.
You will now see a box asking you to enter some information on your new product. If you use your own SKUs, then enter that into the 'Product SKU'. However, don't worry if you don't – StoreFeeder will automatically generate a unique SKU for you when the product is created. Next, you need to enter the name of your product into the 'Product Name' field and select your 'Product Type' from the drop down box. As we are creating a variant product, select 'Variant Product'.
You now need to add the first 'Variant Attribute' to your product. You will first need to select the 'Attribute' from the first drop down box and then then 'Default Value' from the second. An example of an attribute would be colour and an example of a default value would be green.
When you are happy with this information, click the 'Create' button.
Your variant product will now have been created in StoreFeeder. You will now need to add any other variant attributes your product has by clicking on the green 'New Variant Attribute' button.
You will see the 'Add Variant Attribute' window. Add the next 'Attribute' from the drop down box and and select the 'Default Value' in the same fashion. Once you have added the new variant attribute, click the 'New Variant Attribute' button. You can add as many attributes as you need. To find out how to create attributes in StoreFeeder, click here.
Once you have added your attributes, you will need to start adding the variant products. To add a new variant, click on the 'Add New Variant' as circled in the image below.
As you add the variants, you will want to add the information for each of them. StoreFeeder will automatically generate a SKU for the child product (or you can enter your own SKUs if you use them) and you will need to add the 'Price', 'Inventory', 'Weight', 'Pick Bin' (if relevant) and select the 'Attribute Values'.
You will now see the general information page for the product. Here you will need to enter its basic information, including 'Inventory', 'Price' and 'RRP' . The 'Tax Class' for the product can also be set and an option for marking if the 'Price Includes VAT'. The 'Weight' of the product can be added as well as the 'Warehouse' where the product is located and a 'Manufacturer' name. The 'EAN' and 'UPC' fields are used for associating barcode information with the product if you wish to pick and despatch orders using a barcode scanner.
The tick boxes next to the field allow that field to be linked to the child products so any changes made here will be made to all variants. When you have entered the information, click the 'Save' button.
Now click on 'Description' in the menu on the left side of the screen. You will be taken to the 'Product Description' page. Here you can enter any description information you have about your product. You can also enter HTML by clicking on the 'HTML' tab on the bottom left of the description box. Once you have entered a product description, click the 'Save' button.
Click 'Images' in the menu on the left. Here you can add images to your product. These images will be used both in StoreFeeder and on your listing. To upload an image, first click 'New Image' as shown in the image below.
A box will appear asking you to select a file. Find the image file you wish to upload from your computer and click 'Open'.
Image files supported by StoreFeeder are : JPG, GIF and PNG.The image name will be displayed in a green box with a tick to signify that the image file is supported and ready to be uploaded. To upload the file, click the 'Upload' button.
You will see a message confirming that the image was successfully uploaded. Click the 'Save' button to complete the process. The 'Variant Attribute' drop down box allows you set which image is applied to which attributes or to all variants.
More than one image can be added to a product. Simply repeat the above process. When you have uploaded all of your images, click the 'Save' button.
Additional information now may need to be added to the product. A 'Manufacturer Part Number' and 'Additional Barcodes' can be added as well as the location of the 'Pick Bin' the item is stored in.
A 'Manual Re-Order Level' can be set. This is the value at which stock will be added to a purchase order ready for when you next raise one. The 'Calculated Re-Order Level' will also be shown here if one is set as well as how many of this item you currently have 'On Purchase Order'.
'Package Size' can be selected if you have created them and the amount of this item that can be contained in that particular package can be set in 'Packaging Quantity'.
Scroll down the page. In the 'Product Attribute' section, custom attributes can be added to a product which can then be put up onto a listing as channel item specifics. To add a new custom attribute, click on the 'New Custom Attribute' button. Then click 'Add One Now'. Select your custom attribute from the drop down box then enter the value of the attribute in the 'Value' box. Once all the data has been entered, click the 'Save' button.
