If you stock a product in more than one warehouse, here's how to add it and set which warehouse gets used first.
|
Good to know This is part of our Multiple Warehouses feature. If you only use one warehouse, you'll see a single Warehouse field on your products instead of the grid described below - get in touch with our support team if you'd like multiple warehouses switched on for your account. Adding a new warehouse to your account doesn't automatically add it to your existing products - you'll need to add each product to it individually (or via a bulk import) before you can hold or ship stock for it from there. |
Where to find it
Open the product and go to its General tab. If you have Multiple Warehouses enabled, you'll see a Product Warehouses grid there instead of a single Warehouse dropdown. For each warehouse the product is already in, it shows the warehouse's Priority Order, its current Inventory, Quarantined Inventory, and Allocated stock.
Adding a warehouse to a product
- Open the product and go to the General tab.
- In the Product Warehouses grid, click Add To Warehouse.
- Choose the warehouse from the dropdown - it'll only list warehouses this product isn't already in - and click Add.
- The warehouse now appears in the grid with 0 stock. You can add stock to it straight away, or move existing stock across from another warehouse.
- Drag the row up or down to set its Priority Order against the product's other warehouses, then save the page — the new order isn't kept until you save.
Why Priority Order matters
This drag-and-drop order is what decides which warehouse gets tried first when an order comes in for this product - there isn't a separate, account-wide "warehouse ranking" anywhere else. If you want Warehouse A used before Warehouse B for a particular product, this grid is the place to set that. Our article on Warehouse Routing Options and How They Affect Orders explains exactly how this priority gets used when an order is placed.
Removing a warehouse from a product
Use the delete icon on that warehouse's row. Two rules apply, to stop stock going missing by accident:
- You can't remove a warehouse while it still shows any Inventory, Allocated, or Quarantined stock - move or use up that stock first.
- Every product needs at least one warehouse, so the last one left on a product can't be removed.
If the warehouse you remove happens to be the product's default, we'll automatically make the next remaining warehouse the new default - you don't need to set that yourself.

Don't see the Product Warehouses grid? That means Multiple Warehouses isn't switched on for your account yet. Get in touch with our support team and we'll enable it for you. |
