This guide explains how to connect your StoreFeeder account to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT using the StoreFeeder MCP server, so you can ask questions about your orders, stock and products in plain English.
What is the StoreFeeder MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI assistants to connect to other software. Once you add the StoreFeeder MCP server to your assistant, it can read data from your StoreFeeder account when you ask it to. Each person connects with their own StoreFeeder login.
Before you start
You'll need the following:
| What you need | Details |
|---|---|
| MCP server URL | https://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcp |
| StoreFeeder login | The username and password you use to sign in to StoreFeeder. The assistant can only see what your user can see. |
| An AI assistant that supports custom connectors | For example Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code or Gemini CLI. Some assistants only offer custom connectors on paid plans. |
Step 1: Add StoreFeeder as a custom connector
Follow the instructions for your assistant below. AI providers move their menus around from time to time, so if a button has a slightly different name, look for the closest match.
Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps)
- Open claude.ai in a web browser.
- Go to Settings > Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Enter
StoreFeederas the name and pastehttps://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcpas the URL. - Click Add, then Connect.
Once added on the web, the connector also works in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.
ChatGPT
- Open chatgpt.com in a web browser.
- Open Settings and turn on Developer mode. Depending on your plan, this is under Apps & Connectors > Advanced or Security and login.
- Go back to Apps & Connectors and click Create.
- Enter
StoreFeederas the name and pastehttps://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcpas the MCP server URL. - Confirm you trust the connector, then click Create.
For the latest steps, see OpenAI's guide to connectors in ChatGPT.
Claude Code
Run this in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http StoreFeeder https://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcp
Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, select StoreFeeder and choose to authenticate.
Gemini (gemini.google.com and mobile app)
Google currently only offers custom apps in Gemini to users in the US who are 18 or over and signed in with a personal Google Account. They aren't available with a work or school Google Account. See Google's guide to custom apps in Gemini for the latest availability.
- Open gemini.google.com in a web browser.
- Open your Connected Apps settings.
- Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app.
- Paste
https://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcpas the MCP server URL and click Next.
Once added on the web, the custom app also works in the Gemini mobile app.
Gemini CLI
Run this in your terminal:
gemini mcp add --transport http StoreFeeder https://mcp.storefeeder.com/mcp
Then start Gemini CLI and type /mcp auth StoreFeeder to sign in.
Step 2: Sign in to StoreFeeder
After you click Connect (or authenticate in Claude Code or Gemini CLI), a StoreFeeder sign-in window opens. Sign in with your StoreFeeder login and approve access. You're then returned to your assistant and the connector shows as connected.
Step 3: Check the connection works
Start a new chat and make sure StoreFeeder is switched on for that conversation. In Claude, click + and check StoreFeeder is toggled on under Connectors. In ChatGPT, select it from the tools menu.
Then ask something simple, for example: "How many orders are waiting to be despatched today?" If the assistant answers using your StoreFeeder data, you're set up.
Disconnecting StoreFeeder
To remove access, delete the StoreFeeder connector from your assistant's connector settings (for example Settings > Connectors in Claude). In Claude Code, run claude mcp remove StoreFeeder. In Gemini CLI, run gemini mcp remove StoreFeeder.
Troubleshooting
I can't see an option to add a custom connector
Your plan may not include custom connectors, or your admin hasn't allowed them. In ChatGPT, check Developer mode is turned on. In Gemini, check you meet Google's requirements for custom apps. Custom connectors are added on the web, not in the mobile apps.
The sign-in window doesn't open, or closes straight away
Your browser may be blocking pop-ups. Allow pop-ups for your AI assistant's website and click Connect again.
The assistant doesn't use my StoreFeeder data
Check the StoreFeeder connector is switched on for the current chat, then ask again and mention StoreFeeder by name.
The connector says it's disconnected or asks me to sign in again
Your session may have expired, or your StoreFeeder password has changed. Open your connector settings and click Connect to sign in again.
The assistant can't see some orders, products or warehouses
The assistant only has access to what your StoreFeeder user can see. Ask your StoreFeeder account admin to check your user permissions.
