Pricing profile helper with DAVE

Create a dashboard with DAVE Insights Pro Describe the dashboard you want in your own words and DAVE builds it from your live orders, stock and despatch data. Custom dashboards are part of Insights Pro. The preset dashboards, such as Sales and Picking & packing, don't need it.

This guide explains how to describe a pricing rule in plain English and have DAVE suggest the pricing profile formula for you.

Before you start

• You'll need to be logged in as an Admin user.
• Your account needs Pricing Profiles and Insights Pro.
• It helps to know how pricing profile formulas work. See Creating Pricing Profiles.

Step 1: Open a pricing profile

Go to Settings > Accounting > Pricing profiles. Click New pricing profile, or open an existing profile to change its formula.

Step 2: Describe the profile to DAVE

Click Describe with DAVE. In What should this profile do?, describe the pricing rule in your own words. For example:

Supplier cost plus packaging, then 30% profit after channel fees. End prices in .99.

Click Suggest a formula.

Step 3: Check DAVE's suggestion

DAVE shows a suggested formula with example prices for some of your SKUs. Check:

• Assumed: anything DAVE had to assume to write the formula.
• The example SKU and Price list — do these prices look right?

If DAVE says A bit more detail is needed, answer its questions in your description and click Suggest again. To change a suggestion, describe the change in How should the formula change? and click Suggest again.

Step 4: Use and save the formula

Click Use this formula. DAVE puts the formula into the profile and shows DAVE suggested this formula with a short explanation.

Check the Preview, then click Save. Nothing changes on your listings until you save.

If you don't have Insights Pro

The Describe with DAVE button still shows, with the locked Insights Pro badge. Clicking it opens the Meet DAVE window, where you can click Talk to sales. You can still build formulas yourself, or use Guided setup.

Troubleshooting

"No formula could be suggested. Try rewording your description."
DAVE couldn't turn your description into a formula. Be more specific about where the price starts (cost, RRP), what to add, and how to round it.

"This suggestion can't be used as it is: …"
The suggested formula isn't valid for a pricing profile. The message says why. Click Suggest again, or adjust your description.

"DAVE has used today's allowance for your account. Try again tomorrow."
Your account has used its daily DAVE allowance. You can still write the formula yourself today.
