This guide will help you get your clothing items listing to amazon and will point out the common issues that can arise and what to try to get around those problems.
On the parent the following attributes now need to be filled in:
- Age Range Description (adult, child)
- Clothing Type
- Department
- Target Gender
Please note:
On the parent listing you should not fill in any of the new apparel attribute fields outside the ones mentioned above, so for example, if you’ve filled in Apparel Body Type or Apparel Size Class on the parent the entire listing will error because for some reason amazon do not like this information to be submitted on parent SKUs so if you notice this is filled in remove that information then your parent SKU should be ok. Now moving on to the variants, you will need to fill in information per variant, you can see the variant attributes by going to the variant tab and pressing the cog wheel next to the variant:
To enable an attribute to be entered/submitted you just press the tick box next to the attribute.
Please note:
This tab won't appear until a listing has been saved once so if you are created a new listing, press the save without upload button once you've completed most of the listing then come back and add the apparel attributes against the children.
On the child, you need to fill in different fields depending on which clothing type you are listing.
For a generic listing, e.g. listing a clothing type of “Outerwear” you need to fill in:
- Apparel Size Class
- Apparel Size
these 2 fields link together, so if you pick the size class of alpha you want to pick a size like s, m, l. If you pick numeric you need to pick a numbered size.
If you are listing an item that has a size range, for example listing socks that are size 6-8, you will also need to fill in Apparel Size To. In that example your Apparel Size would be 6 and your Apparel Size To would be 8.
If you submit a listing with those 2 fields filled in and you have an issue you can try filling in the Apparel Height Type and Apparel Body Type fields.
Sometimes those fields are required but we have found more often than not they will actually end up causing listing errors and the error isn’t very descriptive so we recommend not filling them in initially and then if the listing fails to upload, if you go to the submission tab and you can see the error complains that these fields are missing you can fill them in afterwards.
As mentioned before some clothing types will require that you submit specific clothing attributes.
For example, if you choose to submit a listing with a clothing type of shirt you will need to fill in the Shirt Size fields:
Not all of these are required, typically out of these you just need to submit:
- Shirt Size Class
- Shirt Size
- Shirt Body Type
- Shirt Height Type
The attributes Shirt Neck Size and Shirt Sleeve Length will only need to be filled in if you pick a Shirt Size Class that requires these attributes. E.g. if you pick neck as your size class you need to submit shirt neck size rather than shirt size, if you pick neck sleeve, you fill in neck size and sleeve length.
Alongside the shirt attributes there are also specific attributes for the following clothing types:
- Shapewear
- Headwear
- Bottoms
All of the clothing types follow similar patterns, they have pretty much the same fields so if you are listing trousers you will need to fill in the Bottoms Size attributes instead of the shirt size attributes.
