If you use multiple stock locations and remove an order from a pickwave after it's already been picked, StoreFeeder will automatically create a stock transfer to put that stock back where it belongs. This article explains why this happens, where to find these transfers, and how to action them.
Why does this happen?
When your pickwave is picked, the stock for each order is physically moved out of its pickbin into an "in transit" location while it's on the trolley, ready to be packed and despatched.
If you then remove an order from that pickwave – for example because it needs to be put on hold, or something changes before it's despatched - the stock that was already picked for it is no longer needed by anything else in the pickwave. StoreFeeder recognises this excess stock and automatically creates a pending stock transfer to move it from the in transit location back into the product's pickbin, so it's available for other orders again.
How you'll know a transfer has been created
- Open the pickwave and remove the order as normal (Warehouse > Despatch Order / Pickwave, open the pickwave, select the order, then Remove Orders from the actions dropdown and click Confirm).
- A banner titled Transfers Created appears on the pickwave page, letting you know that pending transfers have been created for the products that need to go back into their pickbin(s).
- Click the View transfers link in the banner to go straight to the Pending Transfers list.
Where to find these transfers
These automatic transfers live alongside all your other stock transfers:
- Go to Warehouse > Stock Locations > Stock Location Transfers.
- Click the Pending Transfers tab.
- Look for a row with a Reason of "Removed from pickwave [pickwave number]" – these are the system-generated transfers created for you.
How to action a transfer
Because these transfers are created automatically by StoreFeeder, you can't edit or delete them – the only action available is to complete them once the stock has actually been physically put back:
- On the Pending Transfers tab, find the transfer(s) you want to action.
- Click Complete on an individual row, or tick multiple rows and choose Complete from the bulk actions dropdown, then click Confirm.
- If the product is tracked by expiry date/batch (FIFO), a window will ask you to confirm the Expiry Date and Batch Reference, and to pick the matching destination location, before you click Complete Transfer.
Once completed, the stock moves out of the in transit location and back into the pickbin, ready to be picked for a future order.
