This article explains what a listing is in StoreFeeder, how listings relate to your products, and where to find each listing task. Follow the links for step-by-step guides.
What is a listing?
A listing is the version of a product that appears on one sales channel. A product is your internal record of an item. A listing is what's for sale on a channel such as eBay, Amazon or Shopify.
One product can have many listings, one per channel, and each listing can have its own title, price, description and channel settings. When you connect a channel, StoreFeeder downloads the active listings already on it.
Mapping: how listings connect to products
A listing is mapped when it's linked to a product. Mapping is what lets StoreFeeder:
- send stock levels from the product to the listing
- recognise the product on incoming orders
- send price, description and image changes to the channel, if your integration is set up to
On Listings > Manage Listings, the Mapping Status column shows a linked-chain icon for mapped listings and a red broken chain for unmapped ones. Orders for unmapped listings come in as unrecognised.
Listing statuses
The Listing Status column on Manage Listings shows where each listing stands on the channel:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not on Channel | The product hasn't been listed on this channel yet. |
| Pending Upload | The listing is queued and waiting to go live. |
| Updating on Channel | StoreFeeder is sending changes to the channel. |
| Active on Channel | The listing is live. |
| Attention Required | There's a problem with the listing that you need to fix. Open the listing to see the error. |
| Deleted from Channel | The listing was live but has been removed from the channel. |
How product data reaches your listings
- Stock is always managed on the product. Each listing shows stock according to its Inventory Type setting, for example Inventory + Oversell.
- Price comes from the product when the listing has no price of its own, or when it's linked to the product price. See Using the product price to update listing price.
- Description fills in from the product when you create a new listing.
- Images on the product are available to choose when you set up the listing.

Limits and things to watch for
- You need a product before you can create a listing. Every listing StoreFeeder creates is linked to a product.
- Redownloading a listing unmaps it. Before you redownload listings in bulk, export them with Product SKU (Read Only) ticked, so you can remap them afterwards. See Unmapping and remapping a listing.
- StoreFeeder doesn't refresh listing details from the channel on its own. If a listing is changed directly on the channel, StoreFeeder's copy stays as it was until you redownload the listing.
- Listings Import Export only works with mapped listings. Unmapped listings use Export Unmapped Listings and Import & Map Unmapped instead.
- Each channel has its own fields. See Available Listing Import/Export Fields per Channel.
