This guide shows you how to export your listings for one channel to a spreadsheet, change them in bulk and import the file to update them. It also covers saving export templates and checking past imports.
Before you start
- The Export and Import (Update Existing) tabs only work with listings that are mapped to products. To map unmapped listings in bulk, see How to Map Listings by Spreadsheet.
- You can export and import one channel at a time.
- Files are exported in
.xlsxformat, which opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and most other spreadsheet editors. - To see which fields are available for each channel, see Available Listing Import/Export Fields per Channel.
Step 1: Export your listings
- Go to Listings > Listings Import Export. The Export tab opens.
- Choose the channel from the Channel dropdown.
- Open Fields to Export and tick the fields you want. Listing ID (Read Only) is always included, and Product SKU (Read Only) and Listing SKU are ticked by default. Tick Standard Fields to export every field for the channel.
- Click Export. The file downloads through your browser.
Fields marked (Read Only) are for reference. Changing them in the file doesn't change anything in StoreFeeder.
Saving an export template
If you export the same fields regularly, save them as a template:
- Choose the channel and fields.
- Click Save Template.
- Enter a Template name. Click the star to make it a favourite, and tick Make template public to share it with other users on your account.
- Click Save.
To use a template later, choose it from the Saved Templates dropdown.
Step 2: Edit the file
Open the file and make your changes. Keep the Listing ID (Read Only) or Listing SKU column, because StoreFeeder uses one of them to match each row to a listing. You can delete the rows and columns you aren't changing. A smaller file is easier to check and harder to get wrong.
Step 3: Upload the file
- Click Import (Update Existing) on the left.
- Leave Update to Channel on Yes to send the changes to the channel straight away. Set it to No to update StoreFeeder only.
- Click Select File... and choose your file.
- Choose the channel from the Channel dropdown.
When the file is accepted, StoreFeeder shows its name, size and number of rows and columns under File Properties.
Step 4: Match the columns
- Under Key Field, choose the column StoreFeeder uses to find each listing: Listing ID (Read Only) or Listing SKU. Use Listing ID if more than one listing on the channel shares a SKU.
- Under Mappings, check that each column in your file is matched to the right StoreFeeder field. Columns whose names match a StoreFeeder field exactly are matched for you. Set any column you don't want to import to -.
- Set the options for each field:
- Create New Items: when on, values in this field that don't already exist in StoreFeeder are created.
- Skip Blank Fields: when Yes, empty cells are skipped and the current value is kept. When No, empty cells clear the current value.
- Append New Records: when Yes, the value in your file is added to the end of the current value. When No, it replaces it.
- Click Import.
Checking past imports
Click Import History on the left to see each import's channel, type, user, date, number of updated and failed rows, the number of fields, and the file that was imported.
Troubleshooting
"A listing with the Listing SKU '…' does not exist."
StoreFeeder couldn't find that listing on the channel you chose. Check the SKU matches the export exactly and that you chose the same channel. Unmapped and ignored listings also show this error.
"The Listing SKU '…' is not unique so it cannot be used as a key field."
More than one listing on the channel shares that SKU. Choose Listing ID (Read Only) as the key field instead.
The import finished but the channel hasn't changed
Check that Update to Channel was set to Yes, and that the listings are controlled by StoreFeeder.
A listing I expected isn't in the export
Only mapped listings are exported. Check the listing is mapped on Listings > Manage Listings.
