This guide explains how to use Find in eBay's AI Catalog to fill in an eBay listing from your existing product information, what StoreFeeder sends to eBay, and how to fix the problems people most often hit.
What does Find in eBay's AI Catalog do?
Find in eBay's AI Catalog uses eBay's AI service to suggest listing content based on your product data. It can fill in:
- The listing title
- The description
- The primary eBay category
- Item specifics, such as colour, material or size
StoreFeeder never saves or uploads the listing automatically. You stay in control of everything that is sent to eBay.
Before you start
You'll need all of the following:
- The listing must be for eBay UK or eBay US. The button doesn't appear on listings for other eBay sites.
- Your StoreFeeder account must have a connected eBay US channel, even if you only sell on eBay UK. eBay only provides its AI service through the US marketplace.
- Your eBay US channel must have been reconnected since this feature was released, so StoreFeeder can request the new eBay permissions it needs.
Step 1: Open the AI Catalog search
Open an eBay listing in StoreFeeder and select Find in eBay's AI Catalog at the top of the page.
When you create a new eBay listing, StoreFeeder may ask "Would you like to use eBay's AI Catalog to load the listing data?" straight away.
Step 2: Check the search details
StoreFeeder pre-fills the search with:
- Title
- SKU
- Category (optional)
Edit these if needed. You must provide at least a title or a SKU. When you're happy, select Find.
Step 3: Wait for eBay to process the product
StoreFeeder shows Searching eBay... and then Processing... while eBay works out a match. This usually takes a few seconds. Keep the page open.
Step 4: Review the suggested content
Fields filled in by eBay are briefly highlighted, and a confirmation message lists the areas that were updated.
Check these carefully:
- The title
- The category
- The description
- Required item specifics
- Variations and compatibility information
Correct anything that is wrong.
Step 5: Save or upload the listing
When you're satisfied with the content, save or upload the listing as normal. Nothing is sent to eBay until you do.
What StoreFeeder sends to eBay
To help eBay identify and describe the product, StoreFeeder may use:
- The product title and SKU
- The product category
- The EAN, UPC or ISBN
- Product images
- Existing custom attributes
The more accurate your identifiers, images and attributes, the better the suggestions.
How UK listings are handled
eBay generates its AI results through the US marketplace. For eBay UK listings, StoreFeeder:
- Converts US spellings in the title to UK spellings
- Matches common US and UK variations in item specific names and values, such as Color and Colour
Tips for better results
- Use a clear, accurate product name.
- Add a valid EAN, UPC or ISBN where you have one.
- Add good-quality product images.
- Keep custom product attributes up to date.
- Treat the generated content as a draft, not verified product data.
Troubleshooting
I can't see the Find in eBay's AI Catalog button
Check that the listing is for eBay UK or eBay US, and that your account has a connected eBay US channel. If both are true, the feature may not be enabled on your account yet. Contact our support team.
"Please provide at least a title or SKU."
Both search fields are empty. Enter a title, a SKU or both, then select Find again.
"Product could not be matched to eBay catalog."
eBay couldn't find a match for this product. Add or correct the EAN, UPC or ISBN, improve the title, or add product images, then try again. If there's still no match, fill in the listing manually.
"Product could not be mapped: …"
eBay found the product but couldn't turn it into listing data. The text after the colon is eBay's reason. Fix the issue it describes, then try again.
"Failed via channel '…': …"
StoreFeeder couldn't reach eBay through the named eBay US channel. This usually means the channel needs reconnecting. Reconnect your eBay US channel, then try again.
"Processing timed out. Please try again." or "eBay AI processing failed. Please try again."
eBay didn't return a result in time. Wait a minute, then try again.
Important guidance
AI-generated suggestions may be incomplete or incorrect. Check all generated information against the physical product, the manufacturer's documentation and eBay's requirements before you publish. You are responsible for making sure your listing content is accurate, compliant and suitable for eBay.
